Lira Traders Weep Over Botched Trade Fare

Traders at the ongoing trade show at Mayor’s grounds in Lira Municipality are only counting losses after the organized trade fare failed to yield profits as it was earlier anticipated.

The exhibition commenced on November 24 and it is to end on December 4, sponsored by 88.0 Fm Voice of Lango, RENE Multimedia Co. and Pepsi.

It is however reported that only five days down the road, the ground looks bare, and vendors are planning to pack their merchandise and go back home.

“This is a complete flop. Since I opened my products, I have only sold one shirt at Shs25, 000 and belt at Shs9, 000,” Joan Ahimbisibwe who traveled from Kampala says.

She later added: “I must eat, drink and accommodate myself but the earning is lamentable.”

Morish Okarot, another trader from Soroti told our reporter on Monday that he may leave the event before the official closure.

The traders blame this to poor publicity and the fact that many schools have already closed for holiday.
