Although Police are supposed to be against mob justice, the Wobulenzi police-in-charge supports Luweero LC5 Chairman Hajji Nadduli’s threat to lead lynch mobs to kill all suspected boda boda thieves.
The Luweero District LC5 chairperson, Hajji Abdul Nadduli has vowed to lead a group of youths to lynch those implicated in motorcycle robbery in Luweero to curb the increasing robbery cases in the district.

Nadduli was addressing boda boda cyclists at Wobulenzi Park in Wobulenzi Town Council, Luweero District on Tuesday afternoon in a meeting organized by cyclists’ umbrella, 2010 Boda Boda Drivers Association, which was attended by over 300 cyclists together with Mario Ocit, the Officer-in-Charge Wobulenzi Police Station.

Nadduli argued that in order to curb the escalating motorcycle robbery in the district they need to away with those involved in such acts. He promised to personally lead mobs that will lynch those involved in the practice.

Nadduli’s statement  was received with excitement by the cyclists. One of the cyclists Ahmed Serwadda, a Nakadingidi zone resident in Wobulenzi town council, said that such an action was sure to rid the district of these thieves.

Although police condemns the act of mob justice, the Wobulenzi police station officer in charge Mario Ocit welcomed Nadduli’s statement. He said he believes such statements were bound to scare away boda boda robbers.

Nadduli’s statement reflects the weariness of Luweero residents with rampant robbery in the district.

Early this month, an irate mob in Luweero town raided Kasana Health Centre IV, picked up a suspected motorcycle thief from his bed lynched him before setting his body a blaze outside the Healthy centre. The unidentified victim was believed to have stolen a motorcycle registration number UEA 655F.

Police say they have recorded over 10 cases of boda boda theft since the year began.
