President Yoweri Museveni has pledged to mobilize shillings 137 billion to construct secondary schools in 274 sub counties across the country within a space of one year.
The commitment, in line with government’s policy of ensuring that every sub-county has a Secondary School, was made at the end of the week-long NRM caucus retreat at the National Leadership Institute in Kyankwanzi on Sunday afternoon.
So far government has constructed secondary schools in 1096 Sub Counties. Museveni explained that government will use shs 500 million to build simple dormitory type classrooms and laboratories in the 274 sub counties across the country.
He added that the same formula will be applied to the Health Sector to ensure that each sub-county has a health facility.
President Yoweri Museveni added that after constructing schools and health centers, government will focus on building teacher’s and health worker’s quarters.
