President Museveni’s tribute was conveyed by Sarah Kagingo, the Special Presidential Assistant on Communications.

Below is the president’s condolence message;

Your Excellency Jacob Zuma,

I heard the sad news of Mzee Mandela’s death this morning. I am now writing to convey my condolences to the family of Mzee Mandela, to ANC and to the People of South Africa.

Mzee Mandela, along with his colleagues Albert Luthuli, Walter Sisulu, Govan Mbeki, Oliver Thambo etc, gave almost all their adult lives to the struggle for the freedom of South Africa and its people. They acquitted themselves admirably by doing what they ought to have done.

It is us now and those who are younger than us to consolidate the work of those elders and ensure that Africa is immunized against future marginalization and re-colonization.

Salutations to the memory and work of Mzee Mandela.

Yoweri Kaguta Museveni
President of the Republic of Uganda

  1. Pesident M7’s condolence message lacks the real praise for a giant man who despite being tormented in prison for 27 years did not show greed for power like some African leaders like (M7)himself. M7 spent only a few years struggling to remove his predecessors from power but he wants to die as president. Another tribute to Mandela is that he forgave all his tormentors and reconciled with them. Not that he feared them but to bring harmony and peace in his country. M7’s reference to marginalisation and re-colonisation are meaningless to himself since he (m7) is an agent of neo-colonialism and active maginalisation of his own citizens through nepotism, corruption, decrees and insatiable hunger for power. The recent so called Public Order legislation in Uganda actually leaves nothing to M7 to send condolences to South Africans. It was a similar jungle law that send Mandela to prison. Does M7 know any of Mandela’s relatives who were serving in his government before he left power e.g wife-minister, wife-mp, wife-bed-side-brain-worker, son-security-guard, son-future-president and lots of beneficiary close relatives other blood sucking close political vampires. May the Soul of Africa’s only humane leader Rest in Eternal Peace.

  2. Do you (Mr president) think by oppressing the opposition,supporting the thieves in this government and by acting like an angel after giving wrong orders to you puppets can earn a single praise given to the fallen statesman (Rip Mandela)

  3. A very miserable message nothing so touching about TATA Mandela’s contributions to Africa as continent and the whole world.Tata Madiba RIP

  4. Museveni’s message of mourning is lacking because is extends thoughts to fighting other that building unity and peace..
