Makerere University locked as non- teaching staff strike

Makerere University non-teaching staff members have gone on strike demanding government to pay their financial year 2015/2016 salary arrears and enhanced salaries for 2016/2017.

The strike comes a week to start of end of semester examinations slated for Monday 9th May, 2016.

The strike announced on Friday last week is supposed to take effect in all public universities in Uganda.

However, this website can’t independently verify whether the strike is on-going at other public universities.

At Makerere, the university library, lecture rooms, university main building and senate building are all closed.
