Presidential aspirant Amama Mbabazi has informed the electoral commission of his intentions to start consultative meetings.
In a letter addressed to the commission that Red Pepper online has seen, the former Prime Minister’s meetings will run for a month, starting on Monday August 24th to September 24th, 2015.
“Following our initial correspondence to you on the above subject dated 16th June, 2015, I am writing to inform you that I shall be undertaking consultations for my presidential aspirations free of any party ticket from 24th August to 24th September 2015,” Mbabazi notified Electoral Commission in the letter.
He added; “Pursuant to the consultation, I would like to fulfill the requirement for nomination under section 10 of the Presidential Elections Act and here by request for the nomination papers so as to begin collecting requirements for the voters’ signatures.”
Mbabazi who has declared his presidential aspirations with in NRM ready to tussle party chairman Museveni but later bowed out and is set to run as an Independent candidate.
He picked nomination forms yesterday.
