MENGO: Celebrated basketball legend Norman Blick launches Academy at Kisakye Primary School
Ugandan Basketball legend Nornam Blick has finally launched an academy at Kisakye Primary School located in Mengo, Kampala.
Speaking during the launch on April 16th 2025 , Norman Blick said the importance of basketball training programs at a community level can impact the lives of the children on a much larger scale than just skill progression in a sport.
‘’It can make a huge difference in the path that the child takes in life, and an even larger role in the development of that child’s confidence and mindset in everyday situations’’, said Blick who hailed the school administration for accommodating the academy.
“To keep a child focused on programs in which they are excelling and for which they are receiving positive recognition from their coaches and peers is a breeding ground for success in life. That’s why we are starting this academy to ensure that basketball is loved by the young generation ”, he added.
As the popularity of basketball continues to grow in Africa, so does the demand for good programs and resources for kids to develop their skills.
Stephen Okurut, the director of Kisakye primary school hailed Blick for the initiative, adding that the popularity of basketball continues to grow in Africa.
He added that the school was chosen because of its academic excellency , ambiance, environment and the emphasis of promoting the sport.
Norman Blick is known for his competitive spirit and has won multiple national titles. Blick is also involved in promoting the sport, encouraging others to get involved and sharing his knowledge.
