Micho confident of Birungi, Savio’s recovery
Cranes coach Micho Sredojevic is optimistic KCCA’s Michael Birungi and SCVU’s Savio Kabugo will recover in time for Saturday’s Africa Nations Championship (Chan) qualifier.
Uganda face Tanzania in Dar es Salaam in the first leg of the 2014 Chan qualifiers looking to put one foot in the next round.
But Micho, who is still getting to terms that his wish for a friendly before the Saturday clash has fallen through, will need all his players fit and available against an experienced Tanzanian side.
The more reason Kabugo, just back from trials with South African side Bidvest Wits, and Birungi must recover in time for the trip on Thursday from knocks got during training.
“We shall keep monitoring them and see how it goes before Thursday,” Micho told supersport.com.
“But we are hopeful they will be okay. But all the players are working hard and it is an opportunity for them to earn their places.”
The team is scheduled to depart Kampala for Dar es Salaam on Thursday, with the return leg scheduled for July 27.
