Minister Ogwang Hails Contractor Visva Investments Ltd for Delivering Projects to Gov’t Expectations
The Government of Uganda through the Minister of State for Economic monitoring Peter Ogwang has hailed Visva Investments Ltd, the contractor of the Buwenge Seed Secondary School construction project in Buwenge Town Council for working at a satisfactory rate.
The school is among the 292 Seed secondary schools under different levels of construction under Phase 1 and 2 of the Intergovernmental Fiscal Transfers Program (UgIFT).
‘’As Government we are impressed by the status of this project .I want to thank the Contractor for always monitoring and ensuring that there is value for money. Am happy about this project because the work here is different and impressive compared to what I have seen in other areas. We are open about whatever is taking place. Where there is bad work we say it.Now you cannot compare this project with the other hospital, not even attempt’’, said Minister Ogwang.
Still about the school, the minister further thanked the technical team and area Mps for monitoring and supporting the progress of the project.
On his side, Budget H.Mugabwire, the Director Visvar Investments Ltd thanked the minister for taking time to monitor government projects around the country.
‘’Am happy that the time have known you, you have known me that I do the right things .I will not disappoint you in other schools that you’re going to visit’’, Mugabwire further thanked the Government for ensuring that the private sector implement the NRM manifesto.
Hon .Brandon Kintu , the area member of Parliament who doubles as the publicity secretary for the NRM Parliamentary caucus urged other contractors handling various projects in the country to borrow a leaf from Visva Investments Ltd and ensure strict adherence to deadlines set for completion and delivery of the projects in their purview, in line with the Completion Agenda.
It should be noted that the Minister on Monday started touring government projects in Busoga with Buyende and Kamuli Districts, where he unearthed shoddy works on a road project, maternity ward and unpaid allowances of Village Health Teams.
The case was not different with several projects around Jinja District where civil servants and contractors were accused of embezzlement and misuse of government funds, shoddy work on key projects among other irregularities.
To the exceptional, Visva Investments handled projects have been highlighted as completed to the satisfaction of the Government.
