Mukula Sent Back To The Coolers

Mike Mukula was on January 18 sentenced to four years in jail

Former Junior Health Minister Mike Mukula was on Friday sent back to Luzira Prison after the Anti-Corruption Court adjourned hearing of the appeal against his four year sentence to Monday 11 February.
On January 18, the Anti-Corruption court found Capt. Mukula guilty of embezzling Shs210 million meant for Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunisation (Gavi).
The Presiding Chief Magistrate Irene Akankwasa handed him a four-year sentence.
However, in his appeal, Capt. Mukula states that the trial chief magistrate erred in law and fact when she believed the prosecution case before hearing his case.
He further says Ms Akankwasa failed to properly evaluate the evidence adduced at the trial and thereby coming to a wrong and biased conclusion that he received and also stole the Shs210 million.
This is the second time the anti-graft Court is deferring the appeal by the former minister. On Monday, David Wangutusi referred Mukula’s appeal to Friday upon submission that the records from the Chief Magistrates Court had ‘some fundamental legal errors’.
Sorry my brother, next time mind you language in NRM party
