Mutenza Wins African Achievers Award In London
Ugandan born Willy Nsubuga Mutenza received an award at the African Achievers Awards Annual International Summit hosted by Rt. Hon Sir Gerald Kaufman, Member of Parliament, at Portcullis House, Houses of Parliament, London.
Africa is a wealthy continent, which offers many opportunities for profitable investment in a range of sectors from Telecomm, Real Estate, finance, Oil & Gas, Sports, entertainment, education to agriculture.
Africans must begin to position themselves for prosperity by strategically showcasing these opportunities to the international communities.
Multinational organization, governments and individuals have invested and benefited vastly from Africa s wealth.
However, investments in Africa have not met Global standard to significantly raise the standards of living for the majority of Africans.
African Achievers Awards, an Annual International Summit brought together One Hundred notable and respected Africans with impeccable character to be honored and also discuss this all important subject.
Mrs Perez Ochieng, one of the most successful and respectable African business woman in the UK said that Africans in the Diaspora needs to take advantage of investment opportunities back home but also, they must be willing to partake in the hardship journey and work with the ordinary Africans if they want their contribution to impact Africa.
Many high profile Africans spoke at the summit on the topic of Investing in Africa; the key to sustainable development and education as a panacea for global change.
They also deliberated on responsible investment, underpinned by principles of transparency and accountability, so that the Continent can achieve the transformative growth it needs and have the greatest impact that will allow millions of Africans to achieve their potential.
Among the high point of the summit was the Achievers Honors where Africans making a difference were referenced to and celebrated, their stories being marked as global template to challenge mediocrity and inspire excellence.
Willy Mutenza was honored to be one of those who received an award in recognition of his work.
Willy Mutenza is the founder and publisher of the Promota magazine, a gloss African magazine targeting the African Diaspora in the UK.
Mr Mutenza also runs a successful Ethnic marketing consultancy business, for prominent clients such as Western Union, MoneyGram, Brussels Airlines amongst others.
In 2011, he founded the Ugandan UK Convention, a Trade and Investment event that runs once a year, showcasing Uganda and the East African region as a favoured investment destination.
The Convention has become the largest Ugandan Diaspora gathering in Europe and has welcomed some of the most prominent government industry and business leaders from a very wide range of sectors.
