Nambooze says Buganda Kingdom Prime Minister Mayiga’s visit will be the first time a sitting Katikiiro visits the House. Nambooze is also the Vice Chairperson of the Organizing Committee of Buganda’s Premier’s visit.

Nambooze says her committee discovered this historical fact during a courtesy visit to the Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga Wednesday morning. The visit was to finalise plans for the Premier’s visit next week, though no date has been set yet.

The November 11 date was cancelled because it is a Monday and the House returns from recess.

Nambooze believes a successful visit to Parliament by Katikiiro Mayiga would open the door to better relations between the House and cultural leaders in the country.

Mityana MP Godfrey Kiwanda, the Chairperson of the Buganda Parliamentary Caucus said that they have formed committees to mobilize different groups of people to be part of the Katikiiro’s visit and contribute to the reconstruction of Kasubi Royal Tombs that were gutted by fire on 16th March 2013.
