Nsimbe1KCCA head coach George ‘Best’ Nsimbe is happy with his players after their weekend win.

Champions KCCA beat Kiira Young 3-0 on Friday night to take them top of the FUFA Super League log.

Speaking to RedPepper Online edition on Sunday in a phone interview, Nsimbe hailed his charges for their spirited fight.

“Kiira were a hard team to beat. I am happy my boys fought to the end and we emerged victorious.”

“We have not lost hope of retaining the league title and the win boosts our chances and morale,” he said.

KCCA are tied with URA FC and Soana FC on the same number of points, but Nsimbe’s troops claim top spot thanks to a better goal difference.

In-form Tony Odur, Ronnie Kisekka and Michael Birungi netted for KCCA FC who will represent Uganda in the 2014 Orange CAF Champions League.

Early pacesetters URA FC and Vipers settled for a barren draw, while SC Victoria University were also held to a 1-all draw by Bidco at the Kakindu Stadium. Apart from bottom placed CRO FC who lost at home to Proline FC 2-1, the other newly promoted teams Soana FC and Bright Stars FC won their respective matches. Surprise package Soana FC were 2-1 winners over Express FC at Nakivubo Stadium with Hood Mayanja and Paul Kibande getting the goals.

Although striker Emmanuel Okwi failed to get his name on the score sheet, SC Villa picked a 2-1 away win over Masaka LC FC, while Entebbe FC and army side Simba settled for a 1-all draw.
