Okwi intimated in an interview that he has refused to return to the club because they have refused to fulfil their part of the contractual obligation.

“There is no way I could refuse to go back to play for them if there was no problem because I am paid to play football,” reasoned Okwi.

The player revealed that the Tunisian side is now demanding $400,000 to release him to any other club.

The former Simba SC player in Tanzania moved to Etoile du Sahel five months ago, but refused to return to Tunis after the Cranes’ last 2014 World Cup game against Angola in June.

“I still want to play competitive football, but Etoile du Sahel is making my life hard because they are not being truthful,” added Okwi.

The players wondered why the club is even tagging a huge fee for any club that wants his services, yet they acquired him at a lower price and have never completed payment of the transfer fee.

Last month the Tunisian side, who are in the group stages of the CAF Confederations Cup, said they were taking the matter to the world governing body FIFA.

Etoile du Sahel also claim the player has failed to live up to his expectations as contained in his contract with the club and has also declined to communicate, thus creating more tension and anxiety.

However, several members of the FA have advised Okwi to return to Tunisia and resolve the problems with his club from there instead of remaining in Kampala.

But the player said he will wait and keep praying to God to help him out of this because he is innocent.
