Pius Mayanja better known as Pallaso, has joined an on-going charity drive meant to raise money to support orphans and vulnerable children.
The campaign dubbed ‘The Shs500 Campaign’ is being spearheaded by Children’s Development Foundation (CDF) – an NGO to which Pallaso has been named brand ambassador.
On Thursday last week, the ‘Twatooba’ singer temporarily laid down his microphone to raise awareness of the campaign at the NGO’s head office in Zana, along Entebbe Road.
The Foundation’s Executive Director, Jane G. Haug said: “The campaign is aimed at supporting orphans and vulnerable children to access better education, health, psycho-socio support and care. It’s a sustainability project designed to support the parents of the children as well.”
The campaign that has started in Kampala is expected to spread to other parts of the country over a 3 months period.
“The campaign will be held in arcades, towns and churches with a message urging well-wishers to raise funds locally to curb vices like domestic violence and child abuse among others,” Haug said, adding that the plan is to raise funds locally since people fully understand the benefits of supporting Ugandan needy children in avenues that will reduce illiteracy and poverty levels in the country.
