PICTORIAL: MOFA, Uganda Missions Abroad Participate in the 11th Edition of The Rotary Cancer Run

Rotarians and well-wishers on Sunday morning participated in the 11th edition of the Rotary Cancer Run to raise funds for research and cancer equipment at Nsambya hospital. In Kampala, the run was flagged off at Kololo grounds by Rotary International President Jennifer Jones with participants taking on either 2km, 5km, 10 km OR 21km.

In pictures , we bring you the events at Various diplomatic missions of Uganda across the world on how they participated in this year’s run which was the first physical event since 2019 when the Covid pandemic broke out.

Officials from Ministry of Foreign Affairs Headquarters in Kampala also joined the Cancer run at Kololo.

Runners from over 35 cities including those in Bujumbura, Kigali, Dubai, Dar es alaam, Beijing, Sudan, Nigeria, Libya, New Delhi, Mombasa, Khartoum  participated .

The Embassy of the Republic of Uganda in Khartoum, today 4th September 2022, was joined by Ugandans Diaspora in The SUDAN and Well wishers in this year’s Cancer Run.
Majority of the Diaspora participated on Saturday 3rd while a few joined on Sunday 4th, being a normal working day in the Sudan. The event was followed by an address by the CDA a. i. Mr. Dickson Ogwang and the exercise sponsored by the Mission.
The Uganda High Commission New Delhi, led a group of Ugandans Diaspora in India to take part in the Rotary annual Cancer Run in New Delhi- India. In her address, Amb Margaret Lucy Kyogire, Deputy Head of Mission thanked the Diaspora for participating in the Run. She further reiterated that the High Commission stands in solidarity with this Initiative in appeal made by Hon. Jeje Abubakhar Odongo the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uganda early this week calling for Ugandans Missions abroad to mobilize Ugandans in the diaspora to participate in this noble cause to support the Rotary Cancer Run.
The Deputy Head of Mission drew their attention to the severity of Cancer in its final stages and encouraged them to go for periodic medical examinations owing to the fact that Cancer can be detected, treated and managed before it advances to its deadly stages.
The Uganda High Commission in Kigali participated in the 11th Edition of the Rotary Cancer Run 2022 in Kigali. The Mission staff led by the Deputy Head of Mission. Amb. Anne Katusiime, the Under 18 handball team from Uganda, some members of the Rotary Club Rwanda and the Ugandan Diaspora in Rwanda participated in the run.
