Plascon Joins the Indian Association to Celebrate Indian Day

Sunday 14th August, 2022: Uganda’s largest paint manufacturing company, Kansai Plascon Uganda, has joined the Indian Association Uganda (IAU) and the entire Indian community in Uganda to celebrate 100 years of Indian Association in Uganda and 75 years of Indian independence.

Plascon hailed the Indian Association’s campaign called 100 Hearts that strives to treat 100 under the age of 18 year old heart patients & most importantly 100 years of Indian Association in Uganda and 75 years of Indian independence!

Speaking at Speke Resort, Munyonyo , Santosh Gumte ,the MD Plascon the India day event is a biggest platform to raise awareness and money to help charitable causes in conjunction with local nonprofit organizations in Uganda.

A Pre-Event networking evening on Friday 12th of August that was an exclusive sponsor only networking event from 6pm to 9pm was held, a Live Concert and Food Festival on Saturday the 13th of August with colorful acts, various Indian dishes were vended and a main performance from Sonu Nigam and an after party thereafter in the Victoria Ball Room that went on till late.

A Post-Event Brunch was then held on Sunday, the 14th of August from 12pm to 3pm which included a post event informal appreciation lunch.

‘’Plascon would like to congratulate the Indian Association Uganda (IAU) upon marking 100 years in Uganda and India on its 75 years of Independence’’, said Santosh Gumte.

For one hundred years, the Indian community in Uganda has enjoyed an unrivalled record for peace and its efforts to build cohesive societies.

Since the return of the Indian communities to the country in the 1980s and 1990s, the Indian Association in Uganda (IAU) re-established and worked hard to build the relationship between Indians and Ugandans/locals through its charitable activities.

Over 27000 Indians live in Uganda peacefully and together with the other communities, they’re socially and economically helping each other and working towards the development of Uganda

Uganda’s number one paint company, Plascon, has over the years partnered with the IAU on a number of initiatives including the famously celebrated Holi Festival which is a festival about Indian Culture, color, food and celebrating rituals, ethnicity, and tradition.

Working with communities and collaborating on a number of developmental initiatives has been a long-term commitment from Plascon.

Over the past 10 years, several community establishments including schools, churches, orphanage homes, hospitals and Community based organizations have benefited from Plascon’s CSR drives where they have received donations in form of paint makeovers, and cash among other supplies.

Sonu Nigam made a Special appearance on the Pre-event networking evening on Friday before his live performance on the Concert on Saturday.

He is a famous Indian Singer, music director and actor. Sonu has been described in the media as one of the most popular and successful playback singers in Hindi Cinema.
