Police Closes Salaf School Over Suspected Rebel Activities
The Inspector General of Police Kale Kayihura has closed down a school owned by the Salaf Muslim sect after three guns were recovered hidden within the school premises.
The School Director Ibrahim Wanjala was also arrested for failing to alert security on the presence of guns within the school premises despite having prior knowledge about it.
It is suspected that some of these guns were used in the recent spate of murders in Busoga region.
Kayihura yesterday declared the school a scene of crime and stated that it could not be allowed to operate anymore because that would jeopardize ongoing investigations.
He ordered police to immediately take over the school premises.
“This school cannot continue operating because it’s a scene of crime and the people involved in the running it are the ones involved in the entire mess, ”he said.
