Five-time Airtel National Basketball champions Dmark Power will look to limp back from the 26 deficit loss to defending champions Riham Warriors with a win over surprise package City Oilers at Lugogo on Friday.
Power whose unbeaten run was halted on first round final match-day are expected to evoke their 68-65 season opener thriller against the newbies in a game that had Joseph Ikong and Paul Odong scored 17 and 14 points respectively as Power went on to go ten games unbeaten.
Oilers are already two games into the second round losing one (to UCU) and winning the other against Vegetarian.
Mandy Juruni’s Oilers side will fight to the last man after their 20-point humiliation at the hands of the UCU Canons just last week.
In the women’s division A1 Challenge will up against Magic Stormers.
Away in Bujumbura, Burundi at the FIBA Africa Zone V Club Championship, Uganda’s representatives Riham Warriors who topped Group B having won all their games, face tricky Burundian side Urunani the 2011 Zone V winners and 2012 runners up.
In last year’s championships, Warriors needed overtime to hold off Urunani 85-82 in the final game of the group stage but failed to reach the semis.
In the women category, KCCA Leopards are up against a familiar and frightening foe in Kenya’s Eagle Wings, the two-time reigning Zone V champions.
