It was on Saturday night August 24 that local musicians Rema Namakula, Ak 47, King Saha, Ray, Gravity Omutuju Sheebah Karungi and her queen dancers survived an angry mob at Thatch Gardens in Mbale.

The angry party animals were not happy with the musicians who had deliberately refused to perform.

It was approaching to 1:30am in the night and on stage there was Afande Kelekele who was the emcee of the night.

Revelers started shouting on top of their voices as they expressed their disappointment because the artists were taking forever to get on stage.

Kelekele kept on wowing them with his funny jokes until he was dry. The revelers became impatient. Tempers flared.

Bullets were fired, chairs broken and empty bottles thrown on stage. The whole situation was chaotic out of control.

Rema and Sheebah were seen fleeing the scene in an effort to save their dear lives. They fled to the nearby lodge.

AK47, King Saha, Ray, Gravity and Kelekele disappeared.

The Mbale District DPC was called in to restore calm at the gardens.

Upon arrival, he gushed out his ID; “Get out of the car. I am the DPC of this area, can you identify yourself?” he roared at Rema.

“Gwewanotuliwa? (Where are we?) Oyo yatulese (that one brought us here),” Rema fired back

This prompted one of the managers at the gardens to talk to the DPC but the talk did not yield much since the DPC ordered for the arrest of Rema and her crew.

The DPC was so hostile that he even threatened to squash my camera if I think of taking his picture.

Since we all love to live longer i had only one option of not taking his picture. I was threatened unconvincingly.

Rema then tried to show the DPC the contract that she had signed with a manager at Thatch gardens only identified as Fred.

The DPC then arrested Fred and the Organizers of the event.

The two were taken to Mbale CPS.

Serious orders were issued not to let any musican flee the scene. A patrol of 20 police officers was deployed to enforce the orders.

Rema and sheebah looked like a fish out of water. Generally they were out of place.

When the situation is terrible, you can do anything to save your life.

It is believed that the musicians escaped from the hotel gardens through a small opening at fence of the gardens.

Sheebah was the first one to get out. She was helped by a local people who identified the opening where she passed.

Rema and the queen dancers followed the same path. The cars that they had travelled with were abandoned; they were picked later the following day.

It is believed that the refusal for the musicians to perform was due to the fact they were not fully paid.

According to one of the musicians who preferred anonymity due to the sensitivity of the matter, he accused King Saha for causing all this chaos as he refused to go on stage when he was called upon.

King Saha Defends his decision of not going on stage by stressing that he was not given his balance of 200,000 shillings.

King Saha had already received 600,000 shillings.

According to another reliable source, Ak 47 was the one who spear headed the issue of not performing.

“He is the one who was telling other musicians not to go on stage unless they are paid all their money,” revealed the source.

He further pinned AK 47 that he was under the influence of Marijuana a toxic drug that is used by most of our musicians.

“They have been smoking marijuana in the car as we came,” confirmed the source.

This is not the first time for such dramatic scenes to happen in the land of Kadodi dancers.

It is on straight record that in 2010 bottles and stones were thrown at Jose Chameleone when he refused to perform.

Property worth millions was lost on that terrible.
