Rolex Promotion Useless – Tamale Mirundi
By Serestino Tusingwire
Senior Presidential Adviser on Media, Tamale Mirundi has blasted the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife over ‘the Rolex’ promotion.

Mirundi said this while appearing on NBS television this morning. According to Mirundi, the Rolex promotion is useless and it is an indicator that Uganda is lagging behind in terms of development compared to other countries.
“Other countries are going to the moon, you are here praising yourself because of Rolex,” Mirundi wondered. “How many tonnes of Rolex has Uganda exported so far?” he asked
The Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife last weekend launched the campaign to promote this Ugandan popular local street food.
State minister for tourism, Godfrey Kiwanda Ssubi, said the campaign sought to create more demand for the Rolex as a fast food which he believes will attract more tourists, thus increasing foreign exchange.
Many Ugandans including some legislators are still adamant on the belief that Rolex can really improve the Uganda’s foreign exchange.
Spot on Tamale, in fact I wondered aloud, does the Hon minister really expect e Muzungu to come to Ug just because there is “Rolex” silly people, just improve our Image with NICE Police and less Corruption and improved pay check for workers instead of giving 150million to MPs!!
What about the owners of the “ROLEX” brand, the swiss watchmakers? Isn’t there a possibility of them suing? Why not come up with an original name from one of the languages in Northen Uganda?
