Rwanda Plots Business Summit in Uganda

The Rwandan High Commission in Uganda is plotting a forum for business actors in both countries in move meant to foster their existing bilateral relations

“Rwanda High Commission developed the idea to host the first Rwanda-Uganda Business Forum to create an opportunity for private sector enterprises in both countries to engage,” says Maj. Gen Frank Mugambagye, the Rwandan Envoy to Uganda.

The event will be held at Kampala Serena Hotel on November 25^th this year.

The Forum is also an opportunity to actualize the objectives of the Joint permanent commission between the two countries, established to facilitate stronger bilateral economic and other linkages.

Dubbed the ‘Rwanda-Uganda Business Forum 2012’ under the Theme: ‘Expanding Business Opportunities Beyond Borders,’ the Forum will work with the Ministry of Trade Industry and Cooperatives, the Uganda National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, other apex organizations and Government Ministries.

“The Rwanda-Uganda Business Forum 2012 will not just be another conference, but a strong permanent platform to break existing trade barriers and facilitate linkages and business opportunities for the private sector players in both markets,” adds Mugambagye.

He says the forum will attract 300 key actors from Uganda and Rwanda’s Public and Private

Sector who will focus discussion Electricity generation,

Agriculture, Infrastructure Development, Manufacturing, health, Education, Tourism, Mining and Extraction Industry, Printing and other Service Industries

The two countries have been working towards improvement of their relations and are the only countries in East Africa sharing a 24-hour service border point at Katuna.
