Senkeeto Goes to Constitutional Court Over Katosi Scam

Senkeeto Apolo

City hustler Apolo Senkeeto has asked court to refer a case in which he is accused of scamming government of shs24billion in the Katosi Road scandal, to the constitutional court for constitutional interpretation.

Senkeeto has challenged his prosecution by the IGG in the Anti Corruption Court as unconstitutional and wants the constitutional court to make itself heard on the matter before trial can proceed.

Peter Mulira, Senkeeto’s lawyer asked the Kololo based court to refer the file to the constitutional court immediately.

Senkeeto has filed papers challenging the legality of the IGG to investigate and prosecute the Katosi Road scam case yet the IGG is not a public officer.

Mulira argues that the IGG is carrying out an illegal prosecution because the case was never sanctioned by the Office of the DPP (Directorate of Public Prosecutions) as mandated by law.

Justice Lawrence Gidudu is hearing the case.

Senkeeto is accused of using an American company Eutaw Construction Company to fleece Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) of Shs24billion in a dubious advance payment arrangement.

He is charged together with the former State Minister of Works Abraham Byandala

  1. It appears many Ugandans are misusing the courts to delay justice to be administered. The tax payers is always on the losing side. Kyokka you people should be ashamed for at least this time .
