Among other values, respect for people, which covers respect for dignity, confidentiality, autonomy, client orientation, prompt attention, quality of amenities and access to social support networks drives them to exceptionally serve their clients. “The administration is focused on continuous improvement in terms of quality, safety of the patients and staff and at the same time making sure that we protect the environment that we live in. That’s what we have been doing. These quality standards are always about continuous improvements .When it comes to our patients we have a robust system of collecting feedback to make sure this information from our clients are giving us helps us to improve” said Dr.Daniel Mitchell Talemwa, the Executive Director at TMR International Hospital during a press briefing at their premises in Naalya.

Dr .Talemwa who highlighted some of the services they offer like maternity and child care ,critical care ,general surgery, Neurosurgery, cardiology, dental, wellness and pediatrics among others, noted that people should not only go to hospital when they feel sick but ought to do regular checkups to save life and resources. He further noted that in Uganda, the healthcare workers are sometimes at a disadvantage because everyone is focusing on patients and excluding the mental status of the health workers. He revealed that TMR is coming up with a project that will support health care workers. ‘’We have created an environment that is conducive for your healing; from rooms to the compound and this is to make sure that the patients are feeling as homely while in hospital as possible. These are things that you can provide as an entity and they appear small but extremely important in the healing process of a person. We pay a lot of attention to that’’, added Dr.Talemwa.

Dr.Erasmus Okello, a consulting critical care specialist, said that TMR is a general hospital which takes care of every condition including cure and rehabilitation, and disease prevention. ‘’We run a unique model where we extend critical care consultations to every patient who is admitted at the hospital whether at the general ward or at emergency. This helps prevent deterioration, pick up sicker patients for escalation of care and ensure timely intervention for the critically ill. TMR serves you the way you want to be treated! It is our honor to serve the sick” said Dr Okello. He said TMR has a unique set up, and the patients need that calming environment. This set up allows family contact, where patients are not isolated from loved ones. This prevents delirium, an altered state of consciousness, characterized by episodes of confusion that can develop over hours or days. It also offers satisfaction with care through direct involvement of families and building personal connections.

The hospital attained three ISO standards, which include ISO 9001:2015 for Quality Management System (QMS), focusing on patient satisfaction, clinical excellence, and efficient hospital management. It has also attained ISO 14001:2015 for Environmental Management Systems (EMS), emphasizing sustainable practices, waste reduction, responsible resource usage, energy consumption, procurement practices, and facility management. Furthermore, the hospital obtained ISO 45001:2018 for Occupational Health and Safety (OHS), ensuring a safe and healthy working environment through hazard identification, risk assessment, emergency response planning, and monitoring workplace health and safety performance. By achieving ISO certification, TMR International Hospital establishes a new standard for healthcare institutions across the country, exciting others to endeavor for quality in patient care, safety, while protecting the environment. This achievement represents a major landmark in the hospital’s journey towards becoming an internationally known centerfor medical distinction. DR .TALEMWA CLARIFIES ABOUT THE RECENT SOCIAL MEDIA CLAIMS ABOUT THE HOSPITAL

‘’With our level of care and the steps we have taken to make sure that patients’ safety is priotized, it is absolutely false for someone to allege that the baby was not taken care of at the highest level of care which we provide not only here but in the entire world. Victorious was not managed in any way different from others. The outcomes may be different but the clinical management is always standardized. Those allegations were however withdrawn by the father. But we are concerned about them and we would like to get to the bottom of it and understand things like ‘where did they come from, why did they target us as a hospital’?. But also come to an understanding of what is happening on the other side. Some times when someone loses a loved one the responses may be irrational’’, said Dr.Talemwa, about the allegations.

During a guided tour around the facility, Dr.Dennis Obyero, the Clinical Co-ordinator at TMR International hospital said the environment is designed for patients’ comfort. He said they offer a wide selection of private rooms and luxurious suites to meet a patient’s unique healing needs and lifestyle preferences, with patient attendant’s space. He said TMR firmly believes that quality patient care and safety of patients go together. Their treatments, and procedures thus conform to the best practices essential to ensure quality and safety parameters. Being at the helm of emerging as the premier healthcare facility and Center of Excellence in the region, they strive to define and set standards for patient safety practices and advancing quality healthcare. The hospital strives to create a partnership of equals among the healthcare service providers, healthcare insurance organizations, government and non-government organizations, clinicians, patients, families and communities that will ultimately lead to the best outcomes in terms of quality and safety.

Located in the neighborhood of Naalya Housing Estate, the facility was carefully designed to offer an ambience of a hotel, considerably prepared with the latest medical equipment and staffed with skilled and experienced clinicians and support staff who pay attention to detail to everything to ensure that quality is certain to everyone. This has won the hearts of many people to have medical services at this facility.
