SHOCKED!!!! I don’t know where crowds came from—Besigye
Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) presidential candidate Dr. Kizza Besigye has confessed that he does not know where the mammoth crowds that followed him yesterday came from.
Besigye’s after nomination procession from Namboole to Nakivubo attracted huge crowds, seemingly surpassing the numbers that President Museveni and former Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi attracted on Tuesday after their nominations.
Appearing on NBS TV today morning, Besigye said the crowds are yearning for change. He vowed never to betray them.
“Yesterday you saw people walking on their own. I do not know where they came from. Citizens gave me all sorts of things… Poor people gave me pots of flowers, chairs they spend months working on, money saying go and fight for us. Read these signs and know it’s time up. We can work together to have a smooth transition. Uganda deserves it,” he said.
Besigye said he would rather “die than betray” people who run after him with gifts.
He said he told Electoral Commission chairman Eng. Badru Kiggundu yesterday to resign.
Besigye argued campaigns are starting a month late because Museveni was not yet nominated.
“We must restructure the state to have institutions that work for the people, not for the dictatorship.”
Good Leaders
“We don’t want to end dictatorship of Mr Museveni, but dictatorship in Uganda…It should not be Museveni to say he is a good leader, people should. People must have power at all times, not at just elections,” he said.

The mammoth crowds that showed up sent a clear message to Museveni… “you live in enemy territory”. I guess after this show of support, Museveni will beef up his security.
