SHS520M FRAUD! City Lawyer Kasasa of Barnabas Dyadi & Co. Advocates, Land Dealer Ronald Fisher Remanded to Luzira Over Chinese National’s Money

A city lawyer and a land expert have been sent back to Luzira Prison over allegations of conning a Chinese national out of Shs520 million in a botched land deal.
Augustine Paul Kasasa of Barnabas Dyadi & Co. Advocates and land expert Ronald Fisher Mundere appeared before Nakawa Magistrate Frank Namanya, where the prosecution asked court to further remand them.
The dramatic court appearance, however, hit a snag after the prosecution admitted that the case file containing the allegations was not before the magistrate.
State Prosecutor Mahatma Odongo told court that prosecution could not proceed without the file and asked that the accused be returned to Luzira.
“The prosecution is unable to proceed with the matter because the relevant case file is not before court,” Odongo told court.
Mundere protested the decision, questioning why he had been brought before the court when the file was missing.
“I object to being taken back to Luzira when the case file is not before this court,” Mundere told the magistrate.
His objection was rejected, with Magistrate Namanya ordering him to remain on remand until October 15, 2026.

THE SHS520M LAND DEAL
According to the prosecution, Kasasa, Mundere and other suspects allegedly targeted Chinese national Li Huafeng in a land transaction at Coral Crescent, Plot 12, Kololo.
The suspects allegedly represented to Li that they could help him purchase the land and, on June 8, 2026, obtained Shs520 million from him.
The prosecution alleges that the promised land transaction was never completed after the money had been obtained.
Kasasa and Mundere are further accused of acting together with other suspects in a scheme to obtain the money from Li through false pretences.
The allegations are yet to be tested in court.
