The clinic was shut down until further notice.

The suspects were arrested in an operation organised by the district authorities and led by police.

The suspects were identified as Matenda Faisal (25), the owner of the clinic, Kirabo Blessing, Bire Ivan, Mutumwika Jackline, Winnie Faith Suubi and Nasuuna Prossy.

Gomba district police boss Didus Byaruhanga confirmed the arrests and said that the netted suspects were operating from a small room, at Mamba village, in Kyegonza Sub county Gomba district.

“The police arrested the nurses following complaints from the residents who were not happy with the operations of the nurses,” explained Byaruhanga

He also said that several people had complained to the district leaders about the suspicious practice of the nurses.

Upon arrest, Matenda claimed that he is a nursing assistant. However, he denies any links with the “nursing students” though he says he trains students in nursing. He claims that the girls were undergoing Bible lessons at a church in Mamba and only shared a room with him.

Although the girls denied that they are nursing students, residents insist that they are.

The LC 5 chairman Kyabangi decided to act after learning that at least four children have died as a result of incompetent treatment from these “nursing students.”
