Ssemambo wins first Uganda Rowing Regatta
The 1st National Rowing Regatta championship held at Miami Beach in Luzira over the weekend was won by the National material rider (Ssemambo) He climaxed with 2000M vied per race.
The green belt player felt so excited being named the champion and saying his wining was not by chance but hard work. “I feel so excited about this victory, i think it is not by chance, but by design, i train and work hard”, a happier Ssemambo said shortly after being named the winner.
In the ladies race, Mbambu Constance who won all the races she participated in with impressive timings.
The 14 year old Duo of Olara Dennis and Sam Muwanguzi also made good timing of the race that was much assisted by the National Council of sports.
Rodrick Muhumuza, the Rowing normalization committee member, called for synchronization among the varying factions in the game.” Our sport of Rowing needs to grow to greater heights, lets avoid division-ism as we work together” Muhumuza pleaded.
Unfortunately the race’s rescue team had to react and save the boat of Defenders’ team that overturned. The next events of Regatta shall be held in August and one in December this year.
Maroons Aqua Club, who were the winners of the Quad Scull category, was the top club performer on the day as they carried home 68 points. The daylong event climaxed with trophies, certificates and medal presentation, was proudly sponsored by Green Belt Leisure Centre, Miami Sand Beach, Luzira, and the foundation for senseless Kindness.
