Teenager Faces Murder Charges For Stoning Her Would-be Rapist To Death
A sixteen-year-old girl who hit her would-be rapist with a stone, killing him, is to face murder charges according to the police.
The girl (names withheld) recorded a statement at the Police for stoning to death a man who wanted to rape her. The man died on arrival at Mulago Hospital. The incident took place on 16/03/2013 at night in Kyebando Nsoba, a Kampala suburb.
Currently detained at Kira Road police station, the girl said she did not intend to kill the man, but acted in self-defense.
“As I walked home from my friend’s home in Kamwokya, a man leapt at me from the nearby bush and started slapping me. He also kicked me and I fell down. As he started tearing off my skirts, attempting to rape me, I overpowered him, picked a huge stone and hit him on the head,” she narrated.
The girl added that when the man fell down, she ran to a relative’s home. By press time, circumstances surrounding the girl’s arrest were scanty but the district Police commander of Kira Road police station, Robert Walugembe, said she will be charged with murder.

1.RESEARCH THE OFFENDER. DOES HE HAVE ANY HISTORYOF BEING INVOLVEDIN CRIME ESPECIALLY SEXUAL OFFENCES.
2. OBTAIN HIS DNA.
OBTAIN THE DECEASED’S NAIL SCRAPINGS
3. CARRY OUT A POST MOTEM TO DETERMINE CAUSE OF DEATH. WAS THE BLOW TO THE HEAD THE CAUSE OF DEATH? WAS IT A SINGLE BLOW OR MULTIPLE BLOWS?
4. SEIZE HIS CLOTHING AND SWAB HIS HANDS FOR FORENSICS TO DETERMINE CONTACT WITH THE VICTIM.

3.ESTABLISH IF THERE ARE CCTV’S IN THE AREA( I KNOW THIS IS UGANDA BUT THERE MIGHT BE PRIVATELY OWNED CCTV IN THE AREA

1. CHECK THE DECEASED’S NAIL SCRAPINGS FOR THE FABRICS OF THE GIRL’S CLOTHINGSO AS TO DETERMINE THE FORCEFUL TEARING OF THE GIRL’S CLOTHING
2. CHECK THE DECEASED CLOTHING AND HIS NAILSCRAPINGS FOR THE VICTIM’S DNA
1. ESTABLISH THE EXACT SCENE(S)- THERE MAY BE MORE THAN ONE SCENE

Now, Police tell us exactly what she could have done, to accept to be raped??
Only a crazy system will put this girl on defence. But surely she doesn’t deserve this nd woemen legislators and rites groups quiet meaning they support this……….really shameful!!!
Release the girl so she can go to school! There are much better cases to deal with in uganda than wasting the time of an innocent girl. Can police clarify what the child could do in such instances? Thanks girl for disciplining him, may his soul rest in eternal shame
The police should better style up,since when has self defense become a crime,imagine if he had rape and strangled the girl and more so ,how many others victims has he done that to.The Uganda Police should be investigated or reported to ICC.PERIOD
