‘Tirupati Group Ltd’ Founder Harshad Barot Receives India’s Prestigious Gujarat Ratna Awards
Famous East African Business Mogul Mr Harshad Barot has received the prestigious Gujarat Ratna Awards for his role in contributing to the development of the India state of Gujarat and outside the country.
The award was established to honor diligent individuals and organizations that have symbolized corporate excellence and have taken Gujarat’s Business to a new level of eminence.
Mr Barot, the founder and Chairman of Tirupati Group Limited came to Uganda, East Africa in 1994, after providing high-value real estate projects in India. He expanded Tirupati Group Limited to Uganda under three ancillaries; Tirupati Development (U) Ltd, Tirupati Business Park Warehouses, and Tirupati Business Park.
After receiving the award on behalf of his father, Miraj Barot the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of all the three companies said ; ‘’It is an honour and privilege to receive this celebrated award. Awards like this inspire greater self-confidence. For us, there is no more hesitancy, no turning back. Our companies will continue aspiring to bring desired change to the Universe.”
Mr. Barot joins an exclusive society of corporate achievers. However, this is not the first time the family is receiving prestigious awards across the globe.
In the past years, Tirupati Group Limited has bagged several awards including; The investor of the year awards by Uganda Investment Authority (UIA) in 2009 for Introduction of a Novel and a competitive product in the East African Region, The investor of the year awards by UIA in 2010 for Innovative Idea for the 1st medical waste plant in Uganda and The investor of the year awards by UIA in 2012 for Young Entrepreneur of the year (to Miraj).
Other awards include; the Africa leadership award winner in 2014, Glory of Gujarat award in 2015 and Naming of a Road in Kampala Uganda MIRAJ CLOSE for contributing to the development of the community and Uganda at large in 2020.
“This great recognition will surely help us further strengthen our plans to expand business interests in all regions and continue with our innovations and contributions to the dynamic economy of the world,” Miraj told our reporter during a telephone interview.
Tirupati Group Limited (TGL), is a privately owned real estate development and Construction Company in the East African country, the third-largest economy in the region.
Prior to developing and constructing real estate projects, TGL has several non-real-estate related subsidiaries, including ; Bio-Waste Management Limited – A company that collects and disposes of bio-medical and pharmaceutical waste in an environmentally friendly and safe manner. Offices and disposal facilities located 30 kilometres by road, northeast of Kampala.
Others include Tirupati Agricultural Development Limited – An agribusiness that operates a demonstration farm on 400 acres and maintains a sugarcane plantation on the adjacent 2,500 acres Crops on the demonstration farm include pineapples, maize and onions situated in Kayunga District.
TGL has over years developed the following real estate projects including; Namanve Shopping Center, Tirupati Bukoto Shopping Mall, Marina Portbell Apartments ,Tirupati Heights, Tirupati New Mazima, Tirupati Towers, Bugolobi Apartments, Mazima Shopping Mall I and Mazima Shopping Mall II.
Other developments are; Tirupati Half London- Kabalagala, Nkumba University Hostel, Owino Market- Kisenyi, Miami Villas-Luzira, Tirupati House Kamwookya, and Tirupati Bujumbura Shopping Center (Burundi).
