Frank Tumwebaze

The Minister of Security, Mukasa Muruli, yesterday, handed over the instruments of power to the new Minister of the Office of Presidency, Frank Tumwebaze.

During the handover ceremony at State House, Tumwebaze revealed that his office will start with installing a 24-hour toll-free call center that will ease communication and accessibility between the President’s office and the Ugandan public.

According to the new Minister, the system is expected to empower the public to engage and monitor the Resident District Commissioners about their operations in the respective districts.

Tumwebaze takes over from Muruli Mukasa who has been operating in acting capacity. He vowed to fight imposters and some staff members who have been tarnishing the President’s image.

The Minister further noted that he is ready to work with the Inspector of General of Police, Maj. Gen. Kale Kayihura to arrest such people that commit crime in the name of Presidency Office and State House.

Minister Tumwebaze also urged KCCA officers to stick to the law that establishes the Authority instead of playing political games at the expense of technical issues when executing the duties.

Meanwhile, Muruli Mukasa also handed over a report to Tumwebaze detailing the numerous pending activities in the Office of the President constrained with a challenge of inadequate finances.
