Uganda Cranes All Stars Wallop Barcelona Legends

Uganda Cranes All Stars enjoyed an emphatic 5-3 win over FC Barcelona legends in a charity match held at Nelson Mandela National Stadium on Saturday.


The hosts took the lead in the second minute with a goal from Tonny Mawejje that sent fans to run into frenzy.

Ten minutes later veteran Hakim Magumba hit the wood work following a quick counter attack that saw Vicent Kayizzi cross from the right flunk.

A few minutes Barcelona Legends piled more misery at Salim Magola’s goal though failed to break the deadlock from a well-organized defence of Simeone Massaba, Nestroy Kizito and George Ssemwogerere.

Skipper Patrick Kluivert leveled with a 40 yard long range that caught goalie, Salim Jamal off his line to make it 1-1.

Two minutes to the half time, Geoffrey Sserunkuma resurrected the Legendary Cranes back on the throne from a well laid pass of Hakim Magumba.

From then the Cranes never looked back and in the second half Sserunkuma finished his day’s brace before Steven Bengo and Mike Sserumaga completed the assault.

Meanwhile Barcelona legends had restored life in the game when Julio Salinas and magician Gaizka Mendieta scored for the Barcelona Legends.

At Fulltime, the score was were 5-3 in favour of Uganda Cranes All Stars.

This charity friendly was to raise funds that will spearhead the starting of a football academy in Uganda under Rayco Garcia foundation.
