The Uganda cranes have booked their place in the 2012 CECAFA Tusker Cup final that will be played on Saturday after they hammered Tanzania’s Kilimanjaro stars 3 – 0 on Thursday evening at Namboole stadium in the second semi-final.

Emma Okwi who replaced injured Brian Umony opened the scoring for the CECAFA Champions in the 11th minute after some fine work from Denis Iguma.

However Okwi later suffered an injury and was stretched off the pitch in the 36th minute and replaced by Hamis Kiiza.

The game turned ugly towards the end of the first half with nasty challenges flying from the Tanzanian side much to the chagrin of Uganda Cranes players who felt the referee was too soft on the former.

This tense atmosphere was replicated in the stands where there was bottle hurling at each other from fans of both sides.

The two sides went into the break with Okwi’s goal the difference between the Cranes and  the Kilimanjaro stars

Robert Sentongo who was brilliant in the first half bagged a brace in the second half scoring his first in the 54th minute before sealing the victory with 17 minutes to go.

Uganda Cranes have not conceded a goal or lost a game since the tournament kicked off on November 24th and will now face bitter rivals Kenya in Saturday.

It will be a repeat of Uganda’s opener where the Cranes humbled the Kenya Harambee stars 1 – 0.

Kenya qualified for the final after beating Zanzibar 4 – 2 in a penalty shoot-out. The game ended in a two all draw after 90 minutes and extra time.

  1. These Guys are CECAFA achievers why not go for big things?? Crane you bore me and stress me up at the same time.all you can do is to rotate between Uganda,Kenya and Tanzania why not go to South Africa??

  2. Replication of what our society is – mediocre. Go for the big things AFCON, World Cup. Stop celebrating small things.

  3. Congs to All Ugandan cranes and fans at large, we look forward to repeat history for this particular tournament and we should also try our best for world cup qualification come 2013
