Having had a successful run at the April 18 Africa Zona VI Golf Championship, it was all evident for the national team golfers to convince sports journalists for last month’s accolade.

The body that seated at the Imperial Royale Hotel in Kampala voted the National Golf team as the sports personalities for the month of April.

The Uganda national golf team won the 21st 2015 Africa Zone VI amateur golf tournament with a total of 18.5 points beating defending champions South Africa that had 17.5 points.

The tournament was held at the par 72 –UGC Kintate course in Kampala and it attracted 9 African countries.

During the eve, Team  Uganda was under the command of captain Adolf Muhumuza, his older brother Lawrence Muhenda, Robert Oluba, Ronald Bukenya, Ronald Otile Happy Robert, Gideon Kagyenzi, Henry Lujja, Martin Ochaya Ronald Rugumayo with  coach  Amos Kamya  and Oscar Ssemawere as the team manager.

USPA also honoured national chess player and Olympian Arthur Ssegwanyi who won the Zone 4.2 Africa Chess Championship, becoming an International Master (IM) in the process and only the second IM in East Africa.

Patidar Samaj won the National Men’s T20 League, beating Nile Cricket Club by 4 wickets.

Kololo won their maiden Girls Schools Cricket week title after edging defending champions Jinja SS by 7 wickets.

Rally crew of Arthur Blick Junior and navigator Unisan Bakunda, were also commended for winning the Source of the Nile Rally.
