Umony Set To Join Azam

Uganda Cranes striker and 2012 Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup best player Brian Umony is heading to Tanzanian premier league side Azam FC if information emanating from Tanzania is to go by.

Umony who turned down an offer to join Kenyan Premier League champions Tusker FC saying he was heading to Europe is said to have changed his mind when Azam tabled a juicy offer.

Tusker had wanted to sign Umony whose 6-month loan at KCC FC ends at the end of this month but told the club officials that he has already gotten better offers from Europe. However information reaching us from Dar es-Salaam indicates that the former Super Sport United FC striker is set to for an agreement with the Tanzanian club and will soon put pen to paper.

In another development shot stopper Abbey Dhaira is also a wanted player at another Tanzanian Simba FC and both parties are expected to strike a deal by the end of this week.

Meanwhile Tusker FC has instead signed four Ugandan players who include Robert Omunuk and Martin Kiiza(Simba), Andrew Ssekayombya(KCC) and Khalid Awucho (Proline) as they prepare for the new season and the CAF Champions League.

Tusker’s director Charles Obiny confirmed the development to the local press in Nairobi in regard to the new players signed saying they will add value to the team in the coming season. “We have high expectations in the four players we got; they are talented enough to add value to the club’s plans for both the league and continental matches next season,” Obiny told the Kenyan press. “We will endeavor to retain the league and also reach the group stages of CAF Champions League,” he added.
