The Uganda People’s Defense Force (UPDF) has embarked on conducting a subsequent recruitment exercise of Local Defence Units (LDUs) from the selected districts in Central, Eastern, Northern, and mid-Western Uganda.  Evidently, the exercise will run from 15 to 31 July 2019.

Notably, recruits will receive four (04) months of basic military training from UPDF training schools. Upon completion of their training, the LDUs will be deployed to serve in their respective Districts of recruitment.  The coming recruitment exercise intends to enhance the existing foundation security arrangement in the country not only to ensure the safety of the citizens but also protect their property at a grass root level.

As a result, the UPF promise to remain committed to working with the leaders at all levels and the people in ensuring peace and security in Uganda.

The UPD says recruitment schedules will be available in local newspapers and are already running as radio announcements in the respective regions. Furthermore, the schedules are also available at districts and sub-county headquarters notice boards.

The recruitment exercise will be conducted with the support of sister security organs and district leaders at all levels. We appreciate the overwhelming support these partners have offered to our teams in the past recruitments and request for the same spirit so that we can jointly make this exercise a success.
