URA Wins Kagame Cup Opening Tie

Uganda Revenue Authority Football Club have gone top of Group C as the 2013 Cecafa Kagame Club Championships got under-way in South Kordofan, Sudan.
Striker James Kasibante netted the lone goal in stoppage time against home side Al-Hilal Kadugli to send the team top of the group. Feni Ali set up the new signing Kasibante. The game was on Tuesday evening.
URA FC’s assistant coach Ibrahim Kirya said a winning start was crucial for the morale of the team. He said the team would work hard to win their second game on Thursday against Al Ahly Shandy. The two teams wasted several scoring opportunities in the early half, but the Ugandan side seemed determined to win.
During the colourful opening ceremony, dances of a cultural theme dominated the carnival mood in which top government officials, including Governor of South Kordofan, Ahmed Haroun, attended.
Kadugli will be hosting Group ‘C’ teams while ‘A’ and ‘B’ will play in Al Fashir City in North Darfur.
Nicholas Musonye, the Cecafa Secretary General expressed happiness that the tournament had kicked off well and looked forward to a great tournament.
Action continues on Wednesday with group A games in Darfur with El Merriekh Al Fashir playing Vital’O of Burundi, before Elman (Somalia) play APR of Rwanda.
