A saying by Nilanjana Sudeshna “Jhumpa” Lahiri, an American author that ‘’ That’s the thing about books. They let you travel without moving your feet’’, is an affirmation on how you will get to Northern Uganda, enjoy their culture while seated in your office or resting room, by reading ‘’Romance in the Far North” Book authored by Agnes Namale.

Both Ugandans and Foreigners who love reading and culture, are excited after the official launch of the first edition of ”Romance in the Far North.

The colorful official book launch held at Uganda Museum, Kampala, on saturday and attended by several authors and well-wishers, was graced by Charles Batambuze, the Executive Secretary at National Book Trust of Uganda as head of Uganda Reproduction Rights Organization (URRO).

Batambuze urged Ugandans to stop looking at writing as an alien venture but something that can transform the continent, promote our culture and talent. He added that many people regard Africa as a silent continent because Africans haven’t taken writing seriously yet those who have ventured into writing are making it to the heights.

Speaking at the launch, author Namale described the book as a travel memo that demonstrates the culture and wildlife of the karamoja sub-region.

‘’Karamoja is a beautiful place and it makes you explore Africa.When I was in Karamoja , I was immersed into the uniqueness of people ,wildlife and the only way I could express this to the world was to document it’’, Namale noted .

She added the uniqueness of culture in Karamoja in marriage where women work harder for men unlike other places in the country where it is the opposite , food , music and dressing are a must –experience for anyone around the world.

Prior to her passion for writing, Namale is a celebrated Journalist / humanitarian, news anchor, reporter and editor whose professionalism is unmatched.

Widely considered the most complex of human emotions, romantic love both shapes and reflects core societal values, its expression offering a window into the cultural zeitgeist.

In Namale’s book, romantic love among Karamojongo people has long been a mainstay of the content. The book offers insight into both the man’s character and women’s emotional nature.
