ZUBL: Ladies Take The Day In Mukono

A massive 393 points were recorded in the 5 ladies fixtures played at the Uganda Christian University in Mukono. On a rainy court, the fans never disappointed and held onto the challenging weather conditions to catch the thrilling action.

Kampala University 38 – 19 Cavendish University
Kampala University led from the onset 14 – 2 in the first quarter of the game. The second quarter produced the game’s lowest score as it ended 17 – 7 and by the resumption of the final two quarters, the writing was surely on the wall for a K.U victory as they took the third 8 -6 and cemented the final 38 – 19 score line with a 13 – 6 margin.
Victoria Ondiso and Maggie Wesonga top scored for Kampala University with 12 points apiece while Ramasa Francine was Cavendish’s best performer with 11 points coming off 4 rebounds though with no assist.

IUIU 18 – 36 UMU
Uganda Martyrs’ University will have Xinakuzi Nakazi to thank for a game inspirational performance that saw her score 17 points in her team’s victory.
Half time of this game ended 10 – 14 in favour of the Masaka road based institution. IUIU’s Hamidu Hamaimayi was a real thorn in the flesh of UMU’s back line.
Other recognizable performers for UMU were Mildread Epodi, Sheila Malangu and Gloria Awori with 4,4 and 3 points respectively Ndejje University 67 – 23 Cavendish University 20 points, including 3 three pointers coming from Lillian Zawedde (2 rebounds and 2 assists) helped Ndejje University to a 44 margin win.
Ndejje won all the quarters, 14 – 7, 19 – 9, 18 – 2 and 16 -5 Jane Nabukonde with 4 rebounds and an assist was Ndejje’s second best scorer while Cavendish ‘s Zurah Kuakha had a team high 8 points, and 2 rebounds.
UCU 126 – 07 IUIU
This was a one sided fixture played shortly after the rains.
Purity Odhiambo’s experience dearly paid off with a massive 49 pints, 11 rebounds and 7 assists.
Bridger Nakamoga scored 23 points and Everyn Adhimabo got 20 points while Niswaliba Natongo had a team high 3 points for IUIU.
The quarter scores were 33-2, 24- 0, 25 – 5 and 44 – 0.
Kampala University 36 – 23 UMU
UMU’s Kush Nakazi had the game’s highest scores of 14 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists but the statistics never saved her team from defeat as they succumbed to a 23 – 36 defeat against Kampala University. Victoria Ondiso was best player and sharp shooter for Kampala University with 13 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists.
Half time scores read 17 – 15 in favour of Kampala University . The latter stretched the margin to a 9 points difference (30 – 21) and buried off the game in a low scoring final quarter 6 – 2.
