Owino vendors Gear up for SEVO Cup


KAMPALA — The Vendors of St. Balikudembe Market (Owino) gears up for ‘SEVO CUP’.
This was revealed to the best performers of Ms. Susan Kushaba tournament on Wednesday this week by the Chairlady her self Ms. Susan kushaba, and confirmed by the Chief guest Maj. Emma Kutesa, from the office of the President who delivered the winning team a gift of a Bull from President Museveni after the tournament.
In the message he eacholed to all participants and Organizers was that, the President appreciate them for the work they are doing but also for always supporting him and the NRM Government, the endeavours by leaders in Uplifting talents of young people in Market. Kutesa later handed over ‘Team Gonya’ their Bull to go and celebrate.
He informed and emphasized them that, since they have won they need for more cooperation and training because ‘SEVO CUP’ is coming up and that it will cover all markets that are in Kampala.Gonya won the trophy after a tight goalless draw of 0-0 against Nkoko team that bended in penalties with 4: 3 goals.

Where as in her capacity as the Chairlady and the organiser Ms. Susan Kushaba appreciated the 32 team that generally Participated after two months of serious training. According to Kushaba, the tournament was not organised to make vendors Happy but rather to discover the talents of vendors in the market.
“I’m extremely happy to see that the long waited tournament has come to an and we now have the winner team as ‘Goonya’ (Crocodiles), I didn’t plan this for making this a way of creating happiness but to show that there talents in our markets” Kushaba said. She thanked President Gen. Yoweri Museveni for the gift he had promised the winners. Kushaba applauded the sponsors; Kampala Executive Director (ED) Ms. Dorothy Kisaaka, Chairperson Kampala land board, Equity Bank, Rihama group among others.
She was happy for the cooperation support received from NRM leadership in Kampala especially; Kampala central Mayor Salim Uhuru, NRM chapter South Africa Philip Kakuru who even promised further training to these young talented vendors.
She confirmed that this tournament will be held annually and the two winners will have to participate in the ‘SEVO Cup’ which is it’s final stage Organisation. This will attract participants and all people working in informal sector with in Kampala and huge prizes to be won.
The event attracted thousands of vendors who kept chanty voices in support of their favourite teams and was also graced by the famous presidential adviser Ms. Jennifer Nakanguubi aka Full figure, Kampala central Mayor Salim Uhuru among others.
