Alligators’ Immune System Can Fight HIV

Researchers found that when the alligator serum was exposed to HIV, a good amount of the life-threatening virus was killed.

This means that alligator blood opens many doors in the antibiotic research. A study team predicts that pills and creams containing alligator peptides could be available at local pharmacies within 7 to 10 years.

Such products would be of great assistance to patients that need extra help preventing infections, such as diabetes patients with foot ulcers, burn victims, and people suffering from auto-immune diseases.

However, initial tests have revealed that higher concentrations of the alligator serum can be toxic to human cells. Will a perfect combination be struck? Only time will tell.
