Bangi, Najjuka Ejected in Uganda International Badminton Championship

Uganda’s top female player, Bridget Shamim Bangi and Gloria Najjuka on Saturday morning lost in the second round at the on-going Uganda International Badminton Championship.

Iran’s Aghaei Hajiagha Soraya stopped Bangi 11-10, 11-6, 11-7 as the Ugandan player failed to adapt to the game. Soroya will now face Egypt’s top player Hadia Hosny in the quarter final match later on Saturday.

Another Ugandan player Najjuka also found the going tough when she lost 11-4, 11-6, 11-3 to the tournament’s top seed and Africa’s best ranked player Grace Gabriel from Nigeria.

In the men’s doubles Uganda’s Edwin Ekiring and Milan Ludix qualified for the quarter finals after stopping Riyaz Salewala and Areej Shalwani 11-9, 11-8, 8-11, 11-5. Ekiring bowed out of the men’s singles category after losing to an Italian player in the first round.

Uganda’s pair herbery Ebayo and Jacon Musisi also lost to Blagovest Kisyov (Bulgaria) and Ajen Roj (Slovakia) 11-10, 11-6, 11-7.
