Cameroon For CECAFA, Draws’ Date Extended
Four times Africa Cup of Nations winner, Cameroon, could play in the upcoming CECAFA football tourney later this month if the technical committee grants her request.
Cameroon which failed to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations slated for January next year in South Africa hope to use the tournament to rebuild their team after a disappointing qualification campaign that saw them miss out on the continent’s football showpiece.
Zimbabwe and Malawi are the other nations awaiting a decision by the technical committee to confirm whether they could participate in the tournament.
In a new development, the Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) has postponed the date in which it is expected to announce the draws from 8th to 12th of this month.
Rogers Mulindwa, the FUFA Publicist who made this revelation however, did not give any reasons why the football body had decided to extend the draws’ date.
“The fixtures will be released on 12th November, not 8th as we had earlier set…We shall communicate the venue in our next press conference” Mulindwa said.
The CECAFA tournament is expected to take place from November 24th to December 8th at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole. As champions and record cup holders with 12 trophies, Uganda hopes to bank on its home advantage and retain the trophy.
