River of Life Church is seeking a court permanent injunction banning Uganda Motor Sport from hosting rallies at Misaali grounds. David Wanzala, the head pastor of River of Life Church contends that Misaali ground belongs to the church. Wanzala claims that they acquired the land from Mukudde Board of Trustees. The disputed land estimated to be about 12 acres, is found at Misaali cultural site, in Nyendo-Ssenyange division in Masaka municipality.

Through John Kawanga, River of Life church has dragged Fulgensio Kavuma and Siragi Mukudde and Uganda Motor Sport to court for alleged trespass. They want court to ban Motor Sport from organizing its circuit on the land. The church also wants court to stop Motor sport from reconstructing the pavilion that collapsed recently Misaali grounds. Wanzala who declined to be reordered by Redpepper Online says that they resorted to court after failing to resolve the dispute amicably. He declined to disclose how much money they paid for the land but said they have all documents and evidence showing Misaali grounds belong to them. Wanzala says they are considering constructing a church or school on the disputed land.

But Fulgensio Kavuma, one of the organizers of Motor sports is surprised by the claims by River of Life church. Kavuma says they don’t claim ownership of the land but only hire it from Mukudde Board of Trustees for the Circuit. He says the land where the circuit, they believe belongs to Sirage Mukudde, one of the children of Mukudde. Sirage Mukudde, one of the claimants to the land declined to speak to our Reporter on the issue. But Badru Kasozi, the Officer in Charge of Masaka Central Police station says they are investigating claims that there are three parties fighting for the same land. He says they have already seen the land title in possession of River of Life Church and want to verify the other two.

Motor sport has also been involved in a dispute with Traditional healers over the same land.  Misaali ground is a popular venue for motor rallies. It attracts thousands of spectators. Last weekend, more than 20 rally fans were injured after the pavilion on which they were seated collapsed
