COLD-BLOODED MURDER! Co-wife, Two Sons Held Over Killing of Ex-UNRA Boss Ssejemba’s Sister, Hubby
The victims have been identified as Herbert Turyatunga and his wife, Jane Nakyanzi

MBARARA
Police in Mbarara City are investigating the gruesome killing of a couple at their home in Kafunjo Cell, Nyarubanga Ward, Mbarara City North, with the deceased’s co-wife and her two sons arrested as prime suspects.
The victims have been identified as Herbert Turyatunga and his wife, Jane Nakyanzi, who were attacked at their home on Sunday night at around 10:00pm.
According to preliminary information, Nakyanzi was allegedly attacked and hacked by unknown assailants while at home.
Her husband reportedly returned shortly afterwards and found the attackers still inside the house. He was also attacked and left critically injured.
Turyatunga was rushed to Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital for treatment but died at around 4:00am.
Nakyanzi was reportedly a sister to John Bosco Ssejemba, the former Head of Enforcement and Director of Roads Infrastructure Protection at the Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA).
Police said the attackers had fled by the time officers arrived at the scene.
CO-WIFE, SONS ARRESTED
Police have since arrested Jane Kyobutungi, described as Turyatunga’s second wife, together with her two sons, and taken them to Mbarara Central Police Station to assist with investigations.
Sources allege that there had been longstanding misunderstandings between members of the family involving the deceased wife’s side and Kyobutungi.
Police are expected to investigate whether the alleged family disputes are connected to the killings.
The arrest of the three suspects, however, does not mean they have been found guilty, and investigations are still ongoing.
‘THEY CAME TO KILL’
Aaron Kanyikirize, the LC2 Chairman of Nyarubanga, said the attack had left residents with many unanswered questions.
Kanyikirize said the attackers appeared to have targeted the couple specifically because they allegedly killed them without taking any property from the home.
He said the circumstances suggested that the attackers’ main objective was to kill the couple rather than commit a robbery.
Several objects suspected to have been used in the attack, including slashers, a panga and an axe, were reportedly recovered at the scene.
Kanyikirize described the incident as unusual for the area and condemned the killings.
He appealed to residents to remain calm and cooperate with police as investigations continue.
