PEPPER SPORTS: Uganda’s chances of winning a boxing medal at the ongoing Birmingham 2022 commonwealth Games have brightened.
This comes after Bombers (Uganda national boxing team) Captain Joshua Tukamuhebwa sailed into the quarter-finals in his light welterweight category on Sunday.
Hall four at the national exhibition centre in Birmingham is the venue for boxing and thus far has proved good omens to Uganda’s Joshua Tukamuhebwa.
The bombers Captain is on the verge of collecting a medal for Uganda after edging Billy Polkinghorn in a round of 16 light welterweight contest.
It’s his second win after beating Northern Irish John Paul Hale at the round of 32.
In the quarter-final which upon victory guarantees a bronze medal, Tukamuhebwa will fight Canadian W Sanford.
But while Tukamuhebwa’s journey continues, Yusuf Nkobeza has been ejected by Englishman Lewis Richardson through a split decision.
