Carter Jorine Karyn’s acts of humility, generosity and hard work have earned her a place in the hearts of the Students of Victoria University, a leading institution of higher education in Uganda and East Africa offering Experiential and Work Integrated Learning.
Just like the bible says in Isaiah 6:8; ‘’ Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here I am. Send me!” , Carter Jorine has accepted the call by her fellow students at Victoria University to represent them as the Guild President 2022/2023.
Speaking to our reporter during an interview on Sunday morning, Carter Jorine, a 2nd year student pursuing a Bachelors of Laws degree said overtime, they have believed that the university leadership has tried to offer some solutions to many student issues but here she come with new wine to offer a great deal of practical solutions to the prevailing students issues and make tremendous impact.
‘’University education is beyond lectures, course work and exams to many of us. It is hope, our future and our dream. All the solutions to the challenges we face are clearly bored within us. All that we require is to think and believe limitlessly, get organized in unshifted, uncompressed, lethal, authentic and above all dedicated leadership’’, Carter.
Carter argues that It’s critical that students notice that no school is better than its students thus each and every one of them has a pivotal role to transform their gallant institution.
‘’I believe that our long days are finally over and a dusk of limitlessness hovers just above us. It is therefore that conviction that drives me to declare my intention to run for Guild President 2022/2023 at Victoria University so that we make it all possible. All your support and counsel will be appreciated, welcomed and held in the highest regard as we take on this journey of limitless possibilities’’.
Carter says as they benefit from the university’s provision of a meaningful, hands-on workplace experience which enriches theoretical learning, it is however important to have vibrant student leadership aimed at raising awareness of the Student’ clusters and all of the organizations, societies and volunteering opportunities available to the individuals at Victoria University.
‘’I hope to work closely with Staff, Students and Alumni by using all forms of social media to promote said opportunities. As student president, I would bring leadership, commitment and creativity to the role along with a strong work ethic and a positive mental attitude. Over the next year I want to see more power in the hands of students and this will be an underlying objective of any changes that I make over my term.’’, she added.
She noted that; ‘’As Student President it will be my aim to ensure that all students’ voices are heard. My motivation is simple; I believe in this university and through the collective work of the student union, staff and the students, we can continue with the great progress that this university is making’’.
The university’s electoral body will soon announce the eligible candidates to compete for students’ top seat in 2022/2023 academic year.
