Makerere University Vice Chancellor Prof. John Ddumba Ssentamu has said that by the close of Tuesday, he will have filed a report to the minister of education on university staff who defiantly failed to return university vehicles.
Makerere staff members were directed to return vehicles by the close of business on Monday, but only five complied and 370 vehicles were nowhere to be seen.
The university has 375 vehicles both for staff and project coordinators.
This has forced the vice chancellor to file a report as directed by education and sports minister Janet Museveni for the next action.
“I have nothing to do with this issue. I am waiting for a report from the deputy vice chancellor in charge of finance and administration Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe. I will forward it by close of today for further action,” said Ssentamu.
Prof. Ssentamu directed all staff to the return university vehicles and hand over keys since there is no operation at the institution following President Museveni’s directive to close the university last week.
