Emma Okwi Seals Big Money Move To Tunisia’s Etoile
2013 has started on a good note for Ugandan footballers. Last week two Ugandan national team players in Mike Mutyaba and Godfrey Walusimbi completed moves to DRC’s TP Mazembe and Don Bosco FC respectively.
Now another Uganda Cranes international, Emmanuel Okwi, has sealed a move to Etoile Sportive Du Sahel a Tunisian club.
The Cranes’ hit man moves from Tanzanian giants Simba SC for a fee believed to be in the region of $ 300,000.
This development was confirmed by Simba SC Head of recruitment Hans Poppe who said that the club is now hunting for a replacement.
Okwi has played for the Tanzanian side for the last two years after moving from SC Villa for $ 40,000 fee.
The delighted striker thanked the Simba fans for the support, “Hi guys thanks to God the deal is done.. Am officially a player of Etoile Sportive Du Sahel, it’s really a new challenge and a big step for me in my carrier.. Let me take this chance to thank all Simba fans and officials for the support u gave me.. U were really special to me, god bless u all.. Alluta continua..” he wrote on his Facebook wall.
Emma Okwi who recently added the CECAFA Tusker Cup to his trophy cabinet joins one of Africa’s most successful clubs whose record in Confederation of African Football (CAF) needs no mention.
