Fake Kadodi gangs terrorise Mbale City

Members of the public in mbale city are having sleepless nights following the invasion in the town by thugs disguised as kadodi dancers.

 

That most of these dancers disguised as kadodi dancers eventually end up robbing unsuspecting members of the public.

 

According to Muhammad Mugoya, Mbale city inspector of schools says many of the fake dancers come from the areas of Busamaga and Namatala who organize fake kadodi processions in the evenings moreover with no candidate for imbalu and end up robbing people’s shops and even pedestrians including defilement and raping of women.

 

After harvesting their loot they safely head back to the slums.

 

Wasike, the former Headmaster for Namatala also narrated a saddening experience about how the pseudo kadodi dancers recently beat a man who was escorting his pregnant wife home to death when he attempted to accost them.

 

Steven Masiga, the spokesperson for the cultural leadership of Bugisu-Inzu Ya Masaaba outlined a series of offences listed under the penal code which attract heavy punishments in case they are committed by circumcision celebrants like defilement,rape and robbery and advised that imbalu celebration doesn’t provide any one with freedom to rob or defile.

 

“The imbalu ceremony is not free from crime neither does celebration of kadodi push Ugandan laws under the carpets,” said Masiga before calling for vigilance.

 

He encouraged bonafide celebrants of imbalu to practice imbalu within the time table on circumcision that has been widely circulated. According to the time table or road map . circumcision begin in August .

 

He says some of those terrorizing the city are not even bamasaaba but the hardened criminals with new tactics who want to use the cover of imbalu to escalate their criminal behaviors.

Masiga says any body for imbalu must be identified through wearing of traditional regalia.

The imbalu committee chairman Wilson says they have a lot of information on this reckless group and are working with various law enforcement agencies to restore sanity.

In the interim, he says police has been authorized to use any lawful means to restrain such avice in the city including arrests.

The Umukuka 111, his Royal Highness Jude Mike Mudoma recently tasked police to bring to order such barbaric acts .
